iMac 24″… NOW!
So I have been in Farmington since Tuesday, but it seems like I have been here for months. I moved into my single on Tuesday, and I absolutely love it. I like being able to sleep when I want to and no light/sound disturbances, stay up as late as I want, and basically do whatever I want. So it is pretty fun. I was suppose to work last week for Tiff, but I didn’t. I just kinda took the past week off to work on the WUMF site and roll that out, and get some other stuff done. I finally got the site done and it is up and running.. I still have modifications and etc to do, but I am not too worried about all that till things really get moving.
Stuff is sorta moving along with WUMF. I have a meeting in the next week with Facilities to let him know what exactly is going to happen during the upgrade, down to every last detail. He wanted to speak to the engineer, but Bob is really hard to get a hold of, and we probably would have been charged for the time. So with the background I have, I just kinda told Maya that it would be fine with just the three of us. Aside from the upgrade, meetings have been set in stone. It will be nice to have a room with a whiteboard and a projector to help with the meetings. I plan on using the whiteboard quite a bit. The only concern I have right now is just people focusing on their jobs. Last year, things were kinda strewn, and people didn’t focus on the position they were elected for. This year, that is changing along with a lot of other things.
Aside from all that, I am looking forward to people being back and all that. Though most of my friends are back now, so there aren’t too many people I know who are not here. But still, I look forward to the mix again and not just surrounded by first year students. But overall, it has been a good “first week” if you can call it that. I have met a few new people, and have started once again to feel normal and a hell of a lot better about myself.
Overall, I know it will be a good year.
I am really getting sick of lazy developers. I have gone to several sites that look amazing, but they have one flaw.. the outline on links. They look terrible and annoy the hell out of me. One blog I looked at today had a sweet navigation, but when you clicked on the button to display the navigation, it displayed the outline of a div that spanned 3/4 of the page..
Take this into consideration in your CSS:
outline: none;
Then:
I had two computer books.. Hacking for Dummies and Computer Repair for Dummies
Now:
I have too many to count
I have been cleaning my room and packing shit for Farmington, since I leave next Tuesday and don’t want to put it all off till the last minute like I always do. During the course of cleaning, I have noticed something with every one of my computer books.. None of them have a computer-related picture on the cover. My programming languages book is the only one that comes close.. but my networking book has people boating, data structures is the Eifle tower, and my fuckn operating systems book has dinosaurs.. what gives?!
Obvious Top 5 this week..
5. Grandaddy - AM180
4. Justice vs. Will Smith - Dance Jiggy With It
3. Beegees vs. 50 Cent - Stayin Alive In Da Club
2. Red Martian - Don’t Ask Why
1. Avalanches - Two Hearts in 3/4 Time
There.. In other news, been working on learning Photoshop. I know I suck at it, and can admit it, unlike half the kids on Deviantart. I am working on some open source designs to release and stuff, just because I don’t really have anything I need right now, design wise.
My iPod Touch fuckn rocks. I have a ton of applications installed including AIM and etc. I love it, and yea..
I have recently started watching that new series on HBO called Generation Kill. It is written by David Simon and Ed Burns (The Wire), so it is obviously fuckn good. I love the fact that Ziggy Sabotka from The Wire shows up in the series, and he acts just as fuckn stupid. Favorite character so far though is him and obviously the main character Brad. So yea, I have a good feeling about it!
Other than that, back to Farmington next Tuesday to move into my single, then spend the rest of the day getting it setup and etc, and then relaxing as much as possible. My grandmother offered to take me out to dinner some night next week since I helped fix the hatch on her jeep, so I will probably take advantage of that offer. I am really looking forward to getting my room though and getting that stuff out of the way. I am going to sleep really well =) I am going to love not having a roommate! I’ll get pictures and stuff up once I am all settled and etc.
Now I am off to take a shower and get ready to go do a few things, like activate my new debit card, and then off to camp for the evening to eat lots of good food!
I usually don’t laugh about sad shit that happens in the radio world, like WCYY losing 93.9. However, I laughed today when I heard that Blueberry Broadcasting, the new parent company of WTOS and the other several stations in the Clear Channel local radio sale, showed several DJs the door a few weeks ago. Namely Rushman, The Reverend, and Jesse. However, I can fuckn laugh at this. Welcome to the competitive world of radio and what it used to be like in the dark ages when satellite took over the overnights, and automation systems started replacing on-air DJs. I obviously wasn’t there, but it always saddened me when Randy told me about how he lost his job at WKCG and etc.
I am also laughing, because they also brought the local scene to WTOS.. including Dead Season.. And we all know how I feel about Dead Season, WTOS, Bull Moose (to an extent), and the Portland Phoenix…
Blow me.
